Raw Material 2017
at Regional and Historical Museum of Rancagua (Chile), and Contemporary Art Museum MAC QN, Santiago  (Chile).

This Project deals with the collective and political memory of the city of Rancagua (Chile) and the lack of contemporary landmarks that reflects its recent history. It was the copper workers strike in 1981, the instance that allowed the citizens to organized themselves and manifest their disagreement against Pinochet dictactorship policy. This part of the local history was forgotten through the years, which encourages me to approach from a new perspective. Raw Material project, reaserches, amplifies, dismantle and distort the records and testimony of the present to point out the importance of social movements.

The benchmark of this project was when my father told me about how my mother, in a reckless action, threw a projectile against the police in the middle of the strike. In his eagerness to remember that situation, he said it was a brick instead of projectile.
It´s this dislocation which motivates me to redone this action in the public space. The final result, is a series of artworks in diferent kind of materials and supports where the brick becomes a symbolic object of subversion and the copper as an element that represents the local macro economy.
